Camping season year round here in the PNW, from RV camping, Van life, Tent camping to Car camping… and these are the essentials I can’t live without!
I prioritize being in nature and slowing down in life because we are meant to enjoy life, not rush through it. One way I love to slow down is by camping all over the Pacific Northwest, and it is a passion we have shared as a family, especially in the last couple of years.
We camp two different ways!
The trailer is excellent for all-weather camping and when we are all camping. Sometimes if we have extra kids, we will still throw up a tent, but when we want to “glamp” (even though Robert is very against that term, lol), we take the trailer! No matter the weather conditions, we can stay warm and hang out between downfalls!
After having a trailer on and off for several years, I have learned there are things I can not live without, and there are things I feel I wasted money on (usually things that are special for the RV).
When it comes to the trailer, keep it simple… Use unbreakable things, maybe even stuff you have around the house you don’t use.
Paper plates are our best friend, and we just burn them when we are done!
Aluminum foil is our best friend for cooking to reduce messes.
Baby wipes to use for everything from washing our hands, pre-cleaning our dishes, and wiping stuff down.
Old towels
With that being said, there are things you will want to keep in there! I will list them below! However, before we start listing stuff, let’s talk about the other kinds of camping we do!
When I go on solo camping trips or with friends, I will tent it for several different reasons! I am not equipped to pull a 31Ft trailer behind a truck, and it is way cheaper!
I do not mind tent camping, and I throw in an air mattress and a few other essentials and call it good! I honestly feel I am glamping a bit still with my tent and some sweet little things that upscale my glamping experience! I will list them below!
After we have been in some not-so-comfortable conditions in unexpected weather conditions, we now invest in higher quality tents. The Pacific Northwest is known for its unpredictable weather, so planning and being prepared is important. Things like a wind-resistant and waterproof rain fly matter! I always have extra tarps and tie-downs, just in case! I will list out my tent essentials down below.
